In this project, we were tasked with redesigning the logo of the brand. Wakawaka Nigeria was looking to have a strong online presence and to also build their online store. The CEO of the company contacted us because he was not comfortable with the logo they were using. To achieve the level of results and trust they were targeting, they know that it will not be possible with their former identity hence the need for a redesign.
Discussing the project, the client wanted just a refresh of the brand existing logo, but after following that path, we understand that it will not be effective, especially to give them the image they are looking to project. So, we pivoted and try to explore different concepts.
The client made it clear that a foot has to be incorporated in the identity to capture his message of running the errand of electronic shopping for its customers as portray in the brand name. This is reflected in most of the concepts exploration as seen in the sketches below.
The mark works well as a ‘WN’ monogram. The foot incorporated as a negative space in the mark is in a motion state. This follows the slanting direction of the letters which overall celebrate the speedy delivery that the brand prides itself in.
The project expanded to includes stationery design (letter head, business card and ID card), Stickers design for placement on products and slide show images for the online store. A simple Brand style guide was designed to guide the client on how to use the brand elements properly to ensure consistency. Some application of the identity can be seen below.
With the launch of its online store as around March, 2021 alongside unveiling the new identity, the brand has recorded massive success. This has not only helped the brand gain more trust from its customers and project them as professionals but it has also improved ROI. In the end the client is happy, the customers are happy, we are all happy.
